"Losing our theology and finding Jesus"

12:13 PM

"Matthew 7:9-11 was a powerful promise to us as well. "What man if his son asks for bread will give him a stone, or if he asks for a fish will give him a Serpent? If you, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father in Heaven give good gifts to those who ask?" Any good father would not want to see his children sick and suffering. He would take them to a doctor and help them get well. In the same way, our Heavenly Father wants us to be well. "It is the enemy of our souls who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus comes that we may have life and life abundantly." How can anyone believe that God wants to make his children sick? If any earthly father makes his children sick we would have them arrested for child abuse. If it is God's will for us to be sick, why would we even go to a doctor to get well? We would be going against God's will. If in our experience we find that not everyone gets healed of their sickness and suffering it does not mean God does not want them to be well. We know that it is Gods will for everyone to come into right relationship with him, yet we don't see this facet of God's will realized in every persons life. Regarding the salvation of our souls, most evangelical Christians do not have a problem with the concept that people must trust and believe in order to receive salvation. I believe this very same principle can be found throughout the bible, even when it comes to healing for our bodies."
